ScreenTale 0.33.0
ScreenTale 0.33.0 adds optional diagnostic reports and AI-assisted editing, and improves the handoff after recording.
- After a crash or a failed main operation, the next launch offers a diagnostic report for review. You choose whether to send it to ScreenTale Web, save it to a file, or keep it on your Mac. Settings → General → Diagnostics lets you return to skipped reports.
- Diagnostic reports contain app and macOS versions, operation results, error codes, and normalized crash addresses when available. They exclude recordings, project contents, file paths, keystrokes, and credentials. Submitted reports are linked to your account and kept for 90 days.
- AI Editor can propose edits using your configured provider. Review each draft before applying it; sharing rendered frames is optional and requires your consent.
- Stopping a recording opens a usable Editor and avoids duplicate or orphaned windows. The recording bar no longer blocks the export destination dialog.
ScreenTale 0.28.3
ScreenTale 0.28.3 makes Video and Camera thumbnails appear sooner in the timeline.
- Video and Camera thumbnails load concurrently, so one track no longer has to wait for the other to finish. Visible tracks receive their first image before already-populated tracks finish loading.
- Reopening an editor reuses thumbnails cached on your Mac, reducing repeated decoding while keeping the same image quality.
- The local thumbnail cache has storage limits and regenerates images if cached files are damaged or source media changes.
ScreenTale 0.28.2
ScreenTale 0.28.2 makes navigating recordings faster and keeps the editor responsive while seeking.
- Dragging the playhead and jumping to distant positions can use temporary 480p previews prepared in the background. Once you stop, the Preview returns to the original recording’s detail.
- Nearby frame steps and revisiting recent positions reuse cached frames, reducing repeated decoding. Preview pacing adapts to rendering speed, Low Power Mode and thermal pressure.
- The last scrub image stays visible while its replacement is prepared, avoiding a flash back to an older frame when you release the playhead.
- Temporary preview files have storage limits and are cleaned up when recordings or editors close, when you quit, and after an interrupted session. Switching recordings also releases idle preview caches.
- Removing the last recording from an open editor now clears its old preview and releases its background readers.
The first seek may still take longer while previews are being prepared. Playback and exported videos retain the original recording quality.
ScreenTale 0.27.0
ScreenTale 0.27.0 adds complete cursor styles for your recordings.
- Choose macOS-style black or Windows-style white pointers from the first two entries in the Cursor inspector.
- All eight cursor styles now include matching text, hand, resize and drag cursors, so the selected look follows recorded pointer activity in Preview and Export.
- Each style card previews its text, hand and resize shapes alongside the main pointer.
Projects and appearance presets using the new macOS or Windows cursor styles require ScreenTale 0.27.0 or later.
ScreenTale 0.26.3
ScreenTale 0.26.3 improves timeline responsiveness when editing recordings into smaller clips.
- Splitting, trimming or deleting clips reuses thumbnails for unchanged footage, reducing background decoding while you edit.
- Playback avoids refreshing every timeline row on each playhead movement, and thumbnail generation reuses its decoders when multiple video sources are visible.
- With nothing selected, the Split, Split and Delete Left, and Split and Delete Right commands now cut eligible Camera footage together with Main Video. Explicit clip selections keep their existing behavior.
- Camera visibility and layout changes appear on a separate row below the Camera thumbnails, making both easier to see and adjust.
